Your mission
As an officer, your function is twofold:
- operational: you manage and coordinate the teams of firefighters on the ground and during the guards; you also ensure fire prevention missions.
- administrative: you hold a management position in one of our departments; you analyze and implement operational, administrative and technical processes.
So you combine 24-hour shifts (followed by 72 hours off) and 8-hour days. You work irregular hours, including nights, weekends and holidays.
What about women? It’s not a man’s job! The only thing that matters is your qualities. We already have several officers in our ranks.
Our barracks are being modernised with specific facilities for women (rooms, changing rooms, toilets, nursing rooms, etc.). Temporary career accommodations are also planned for pregnant firefighters. The job offers a lot of advantages in terms of work-life balance with 3 days off after each shift.
Your profile
You have a university degree or equivalent and obtained the CAF (Federal Certificate of Qualification). You do not yet have the CAF? Register now via the website pompier.be
To obtain the CAF, you must also meet the following conditions:
- Have Belgian nationality
- Have a clean criminal record
- Enjoy civil and political rights
- Have a driver’s licence B
- Have a medical certificate.
This is a demanding job that requires many qualities, including:
- A positive attitude. You work to help and protect. It is a contact profession where empathy and a solid ethics are essential.
- Teamwork. You never work alone and your colleagues rely on you. This requires discipline and good communication skills.
- Good resistance to stress. You regularly encounter difficult situations. We must be able to keep a cool head and show courage and resourcefulness.
- Good physical fitness. You exercise regularly. You must maintain a healthy lifestyle and a good level of fitness throughout your career.
- A sharp mind. You have good analytical skills and excellent synthesis skills.
- Leadership. You know how to guide your team towards continuous improvement by showing initiative.

We offer a statutory position with a salary corresponding to the A151 scale of the Brussels-Capital Region.
